All-New 2013 Toyota RAV4 – Review

Toyota has finally unveiled its all-new 2013 RAV4. With this updated fourth generation compact crossover SUV, Toyota is aiming to provide its customers with a much enhanced driving experience. The 2013 RAV4 takes a small step back towards its original diminutive size. At 179.9 inches it is 2 inches shorter than the previous model, the height at 65.4 is about an inch lower, while the width is almost an inch more at 72.6 inches. The third passenger row has been eliminated, reducing the seating capacity from 7 to 5. Another feature is the change of the liftgate door from side-hinged to roof-hinged. The spare tire goes under the rear floorboard and the cargo space increases by 1.2 cubic feet. Overall, the new RAV4 has a sportier look. Performance and fuel efficiency

Discontinuing with the 268 hp, 3.5 liter V-6, the 2013 RAV4 comes with a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine that produces 176 horsepower and 172 lb ft of torque. Retuned suspension and optimized electric power steering promise a superior driving experience. New technology like the Sport Mode has the vehicle in a dynamic mode with sharper throttle and steering response, and shift timing. At city/highway gas mileage of 24/31 mpg (FWD) and 22/29 (AWD), the model offers better fuel efficiency than before.

Interior Styling and Technology

The vehicle offers driver-centric controls and a sculpted dash panel. Privacy glass; cruise control; DRL; power windows, door locks and side mirrors; Display Audio with Bluetooth connectivity, standard backup camera and 6.1” LCD touchscreen are standard on all the models. The XLE and Limited models include automatic climate control, GPS navigation, power moonroof and many other additional features.

Comfort

The vehicle has six-way adjustment for driver seat. The driver and the front passenger seats are slim-backed with high seatbacks. The 2nd row seats offer a comfortable recline and 60/40 split/fold function. The XLE features bucket seats with premium fabric and French stitching. The Limited version additionally has heated front seats, 8-way adjustable driver seat with memory.

Safety and Reliability

2013 RAV4 offers safe driving with 8 standard airbags, and Star Safety System including Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Traction Control, Anti-lock Braking, Brake Assist, Smart Stop Technology, and Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control.
