Liver Disease Symptoms
Liver disease is otherwise medically called as hepatic disease and the word hepatic denotes the liver. Any disease that affects the liver is called liver disease. Liver diseases are many and they may be either functional or organic. Most of the liver diseases are accompanied by the symptoms of jaundice which is characterized by color changes in to yellow in eyes and skin. The bilirubin is the cause for the yellow color appearance which is formed by the break up of the hemoglobin from the dead red blood cells. The liver is taking over the function of removing the bilirubin from the blood stream and it discharges or excretes the same through bile.
Diseases of the liver :
Inflammation of the liver is called hepatitis. It is caused by several viruses, autoimmunity and alcohol and by certain hereditary conditions.
Cirrhosis or steatohepatitis is a condition of the liver where unwanted and abnormal quantity of fat is deposited by obese persons. This is also called as non alcoholic fatty liver disease. This may eventually lead to hepatitis.
There is a condition in which the dead cells are replaced by fibrous tissue and this formation and replacement by fibrous tissue may be caused by virus, liver toxins and alcoholism.
Cancer of the liver is varying in classification. They may be caused by several causes. There are metastatic cancers, which usually originated from other parts of the body organs like gastrointestinal tract. Another form is hepatocellular carcinoma. The liver damage is also occurred by a condition in which the iron abundantly stored in the body and it causes liver damage and this disorder is called as haemochromatosis. It is only a hereditary disorder rarely occurs.
The copper content is stored abnormally in the body and it causes damage to liver. This is called Wilson’s disease.
Autoimmune disorder of the small bile ducts is called the primary biliary cirrhosis.
Obstruction of veins of the liver is caused by a disease called Budd-Chiari syndrome.
The important organs like heart and lung muscles are affected and the entire muscular system becomes weak by build up of glycogen in the liver. This disease is described as Glycogen storage disease type II.
Apart from this list, there are many liver diseases including children liver diseases.
- The liver is the largest organ of the body that tackles all the toxin removal of the entire body. If liver failure occurs, the sign of death of the entire body begins. The death occurs as the liver disease progresses. The general symptoms of the liver disease are weakness, fatigue, abdominal pain in mild or severe form and loss of appetite. These general symptoms are common in many diseases and may also appear in the first stage of the disease of the liver.
There are many external signs appear in the liver disease. The normal tongue turned with the coating. Breath has bad odor. Skin begins to itch. More sweating arises. The body odor is abnormal when the disease is progressing. Dark colored circles form below the eyes. Eyes turn to red; it gets swollen, with itchy eyes. Acne rosacea appears, brown spots and blemishes appear on the skin. Excessive blood flow causes redness of the face.
- There are many other symptoms and most of the liver disease has jaundice symptoms. The stool color turns to pale instead of yellow. The straw yellow color of the urine turns to dark color. Bleeding occur easily in any of the organ. Bone loss occurs. Itching is the main symptom in the liver disease. Spider type blood vessels make their appearance all over the skin part. Internally, spleen begins to enlarge; there is accumulation of body fluid in the abdominal cavity. There are chills, pain starts in the abdomen by the affection of biliary tract and pancreas. Gall bladder wall thickness happens with enlargement. Due to decreased blood clotting factor, bruising happens.
Edema occurs both in legs and abdomen and the abdominal swelling due to accumulation of fluid is called ascites. The damages to kidney occur with mental confusion. Bacterial infection is common in liver disease. Internal organ bleeding happens often in several liver diseases.
Physical signs and symptoms begin to appear due to dysfunction of the liver. Mainly, the digestive disorder, blood sugar variation, fat absorption and immunity disorder occur. The normal metabolism fails.
The failed mechanism of fat absorption leads to indigestion, vitamin deficiency, reflux disorder, hemorrhoids, intolerance to fatty foods, gall stones, intolerance to alcohol and particularly vomiting and nausea are predominant. Constipation is permanent with abdominal bloating. As the disease progresses, the nervous changes occur by having poor concentration, mood changes, irritability, including head ache and depression.
The blood sugar level is unstable first and diabetes Type 2 appears in the later stage.
Liver is the biggest organ of our body and it is having the capacity to come over the disease but toxins like alcohol and certain drugs cause permanent damage to liver cells and in these cases, even the transplantation of the liver is also not practicable. Knowing the importance of the liver it should not be abused. If liver is abused by alcohol, the death comes positively. However, it should be noted that liver is the only organ that is able to heal itself in any occasion of disease.
