Mumbai property woes and Ambani House

The huge 570 feet tower in upmarket Altamount Road looks no less than a palace. The boxlike apartment block with wrought-iron gates and high whitewashed walls reportedly boasts of a ballroom, a cinema, three helipads, swimming pools, three helipads and six floors of parking. It is soon to be the home of Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest Indian and the fourth richest man in the world. The luxurious residence starkly contrasts the housing problem in Mumbai. Half of about 18 million Mumbaikars live in sprawling slums, in unhygienic conditions and with little or no water supply and electricity. Just a short distance away from Altamount R...

Anorexia Nervosa and Unplanned Pregnancy May Go Together

Those suffering from anorexia can take heart! Unplanned pregnancy and even induced abortion seem to be possible even for patients with anorexia nervosa as a new study suggests. The study, conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, seems to clear some confusion regarding anorexia and pregnancy. Anorexic patients suffer from irregular menstrual periods. Some of these women do not menstruate at all. These women often suppose that they can not become pregnant because of their period problems. Cynthia M. Bulik, the lead author of the study, dismissed this conception. She said th...

Lebanon Claims World’s Largest Glass of Wine

World's Largest Glass of Wine The wine festival in Beirut has again brought Lebanon into focus, this time for a positive reason. The country has beat Portugal to achieve a new record. In 1998, Portugal came into the news for making the world’s biggest wine glass. It was 1.51 meters (59.44 inches) high and 1.46 (57.48 inches) wide. 12 years on, Lebanon has smashed that record by creating a giant glass of wine that stands 2.4 meters (94.48 inches) high and 1.65 meters (65 inches) wide. The Guinness Book of World Records adjudicator Liz Smith officially confirmed this as she posed before the glass with its engineers. The largest ...

The Beauty Of Vacationing in Your Home Town!

I’m not saying that is a bad thing. But there may be reasons you cannot get away for whatever reason. It may be easy to save for a trip if you can afford to, but sometimes it...

Madonna and her 25 pieces of luggage

If you’ve ever been advised to travel light, that is definitely one piece of advice that Madonna never received. She actually landed on Heathrow Airport, London of 29th March, only a few days back, and the porter actually had to carry twenty five pieces of her luggage. She had just flown in from New York and the porters needed to drag along two trolleys topped with her luggage and they sure looked tired! Looks like Madonna did mean it when she sang “Material girl” so many years ago. There were definitely lots and lots of luggage that was being carried across; but one piece of luggage that is almost always present wherever she trav...
