How to Connect Xbox 360 to the Internet with Windows Computer?

If you still possess an Xbox 360, I am sure you want an upgrade as it does not support WiFi. Connecting with an Ethernet port is not always easy, while wireless adaptors are quite expensive. However, I have a solution for you; connect your Xbox 360 to your computer by following the below-mentioned steps:

Use an Ethernet Cable

The first step you need to take is to connect your Xbox 360 to your computer through an Ethernet cable. If the Ethernet cable is already connecting your computer with the router, just connect your Xbox to the router.

Turn On Internet Connection Sharing

You are now required to switch on Internet Connection Sharing in Windows after you have connected your Xbox with the computer through an Ethernet cable. Windows 8, 7, XP and Vista, all support Internet Connection Sharing by the following process:

  • Select Open Network and Sharing Center by right clicking on the WiFi logo at the bottom right of the desktop.
  • You are now required to opt for Change Adapter Settings in the left side panel.
  • You should now be able to witness two connections; one for the WiFi receiving the internet and the other for your Ethernet that can send the internet connection to another device. Select ‘Properties’ after right clicking on the WiFi connection before you select ‘Sharing’ on the next screen that appears.
  • All you need to do now is to check the very first box that reads ‘Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection’. Press OK and your Windows machine will turn on Internet Connection Sharing in a couple of seconds.

For Xbox Live Connection

Connect Xbox 360 to the Internet

If you are unable to login to your Xbox Live profile through your Xbox 360, I recommend that you check your connection. One of the easiest ways to do so is to go to ‘Settings’ at the far right section of your home screen, find System>Network Settings>Wired Network and lastly you need to go for Test Xbox Live Connection. Your connection should be fine by now; however, if your Xbox 360 still refuses to connect to the internet, I advise you to switch off the Internet Connection Sharing and turn it back on again.

Improve your Internet Speed

If the internet connection is too slow, adopt these router settings to optimize your connection.
