T-Mobile’s Android MyTouch to have Espresso UI

Google’s Android operating system has enjoyed a special place in the hearts of the folks at T-Mobile, so it is no surprise that the HTC Sense UI is getting a nice little makeover for T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G phones.

Also known as the HTC Espresso, the myTouch 3G Slide is scheduled to be released in June 2010. Photos and videos have been leaked on the web of the phone’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard and revamped custom Sense UI interface.

Some are calling it the replacement for the famous Sidekick phones that gave T-Mobile a place in the smartphone market. There has been no confirmation of this, but the design of the new phone suggests that T-Mobile will at least try to offer it as a viable alternative.

The good news for current myTouch 3G owners is that they will receive an upgrade to Android 2.1, which will include the Slide UI.  This will be a noticeable change for those users who were previously using the Android OS without the HTC interface over top of it.

T-Mobile, a German company, is the world’s 7th largest mobile service provider. HTC is a Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer, which has received recent news coverage for its dispute with Apple, an issue which directly affects Google’s Android mobile device platform.
