Racing cars have always been an important segment of the Geneva Motor Show. The latest episode of the event has brought us a new development in this segment from Audi AG. The German automaker revealed the latest race car, RS 5. This car is a special development for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) racing series.
The basic point of innovation in the all-new Audi RS 5 DTM is its improved aerodynamic features. The engineers made some fine adjustments in several parts of this car, in order to elevate its racing capabilities without affecting the overall design. The said modifications include a new grille with a hexagonal-celled design along with the improved air ducts. Other notable improvements encompass enhanced edges for swift air flow, revamped exterior mirrors, and better rear wheel arches.
Audi RS 5 is the new generation car, currently in the concept stage. This vehicle is tuned to have more closeness to the Audi’s production models of the RS lineup. The racing car lineup from the company is regarded as the champion of DTM. Audi seems to be committed to bring continuous enhancements to its RS racing series, so that it could outpace its key competitors at DTM, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
As the world’s largest automobile event has just started in Geneva, Audi has to make a mark to supersede other racing car concepts like Lexus RC F GT3 and Porsche 919 Hybrid. At the same occasion, BMW has also revealed its 2014 BMW M4, which is dedicated to DTM series.
Audi is confident to endure the innovating processes in their technologies like R8 LMS Ultra, R18 e-Tron Quattro, and RS 5 DTM. The latest of these would make their racing debut at German Grand Prix, after qualifying a couple of tests.
