LG BD570 – A Review

LG BD570

LG Electronics introduced its 2010 lineup with three new Blu-Ray players with the names LG BD550, LG BD570 and LG BD590. BD570 and BD590 are similar in their features except for the hard drive. LG BD570 is a highly developed Blu-Ray player which has number of distinctive properties. It enhances the entertainment experience. To give users a variety of apps to choose contents from, with the Netcast entertainment access and integrated Wi-Fi connection the users can access sites like Netflix and cinemanow where they can buy videos.

They can get thousands of movies, shows and online videos directly to their TV through the internet connection in their home. It delivers the best in HD. With full HD 1080p Blu-Ray playback, the LG BD570 also has Dolby True HD sound. It also has WiFi connectivity and a USB 2.0 to help play direct media.

LG says that BD570 will be coming in mid-march with list prices of $280 and $380, respectively.  It combines a sleek crystal-edge design and leading edge surround sound technologies for enhancing the entertainment experience. It provides a convenient access to an almost endless array of entertainment options.

The Good:

The LG BD570 provides excellent Blu-Ray image quality. It passed all the tests and program material tests conducted to check the image quality of the Blu-Ray. Its performance on all tests was highly hard. And it provides easy access to Vudu, Netflix, and Cinemanow Streaming. It helps in high entertainment enhancement by providing the facilities of listening to music files, videos, movies, shows and pictures off a connected USB drive or via network. This LG BD570 has its all features like the previous launch of LG Electronics by the name LG BD390. It has excellent streaming services. And it has onboard storage and 7.1 analog audio outputs. But the only drawback of LG BD390 was its listed price of $400.

Now LG BD570 rectified this drawback by its list price of $250 online. Just like LG BD390 it also has its streaming services. And it has facility to access the websites such as Netflix, WiFi, picasa etc. It has the facilities of BD-P, Netflix, Youtube, cinemanow, BD Live, Advanced Audio, Quick Booting, 1 GB Memory, wireless 802.11n, DLNA, 7.1ch Analog output, Instant Tray Open, 1080p up-scaling for DVD, USB Media Host. It is the best Blu-Ray player if you don’t have Home Theatre attached to your PC in your home, because of its extra features. And it is very easy to setup this connectivity to your PC at your home. It plays subtitles in different code pages.

The Bad:

Though there are so many merits in this LG BD570 Blu-Ray disk player, there are some limitations too in this launch. LG BD570 doesn’t support 3D Blu-Ray. It has no quick start mode facility. So it feels slower when compared to other players. Its media interface is over designed. It has no onboard storage and it has no 7.1 analog audio outputs like LG BD390. It must change its output mode to 1080p. There is 3D Blu-Ray looming on the horizon and the BD570 is not compatible.

Sony is promising that it will introduce a firmware upgrade this summer to compete its BDP-S570. LG BD570 is still the best Blu-Ray player, but it is not a product of standout that last year’s BD390. The another cons of this Blu-Ray player is that when the users are playing movies in their home network, the controls such as FF, stop etc seems to not work well. And in this player there is no way to play the youtube the videos in high definition.
These are some cons in LG BD570 Blu-Ray player. Hope these will be rectified in the future firmware release of LG Electronics.
