The Google TV Arrives

Google TV

Five months ago, the Google TV was introduced to you at Google I/O and now we see the significant progress it has made 5 months hence. To those for whom these words are new, please note that Google TV is a stage where the web and your favorite TV program are combined to form one single seamless entertainment source. It can be said to be a new way of thinking TV.

The main idea behind launching Google TV was to open up the binds of the TV experience from being just constricted to the living room and therefore enable content writers, programmers, developers and advertisers to innovate. The advent of Google Chrome has simplified the access to the internet to a large extent and made navigation easier, watching videos, playing games over Flash and photo viewing simpler. And all this can be done on the big screen via the Google TV.

Since the launch of Google TV, there has been an overwhelming response from the partners of Google and they have been swarmed with questions relating to how they could beneficially use the new platform and hence increase their distribution and profits. Today most of these partners have been able to work with Google TV but still today some want to enhance their web contents and make it more and more optimized to the web TV experience.

The latest content partners of Google TV as of now are

Turner Broadcasting, who are looking at enhancing some of the most popular websites like TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network & adult Swim so as to make it compatible for Google TV viewing.

NBC Universal has also shown interest and has gone forward with a deal where it is going to bring CNBC Real-Time, an application which will allow its viewers to get the latest updates on the financial world and also help them to track their stocks and news feeds through their TV screens.

HBO will be soon bringing HBO GO, a program where all authenticated subscribers will be allowed to access all HBO content on demand for which they need an enhanced website compatible with Google TV.

Not to leave aside the sports arena, NBA has created NBA Game Time which allows its viewers to view live game scores and catch up with the latest highlights from their favourite games and all this would be available online.
There is more to come in the coming months because this is just the beginning. So till then keep enjoying the online TV experience.
