BrowserCheck: The New Browser Security Tester From Qualys!

BrowserCheck Plug-In Tester

Qualys, the leading provider of IT security risk and compliance management solutions, today launched a free plug-in tester named BrowserCheck. It is aimed at helping both corporate users and consumers handle any security issues in their browsers.

Qualys BrowserCheck finds security flaws in the browser and its plug-ins by scanning. Browser-based attacks as well as security flaws in browser plug-ins are on the rise. Most malware attacks target modern web browsers and the problem is that most internet users are not aware of these issues. They happily play browser-based games or ship online with no inkling that they are compromising their security.

Vice President and analyst at Gatner, Avivah Litan said, “The threat of browser-based attacks is growing and the number of security flaws in browser plug-ins is rising. Users must be aware of their browsers’ security and protect themselves from malicious activity.”

Qualys BrowserCheck is said to provide fast and accurate assessment of the security of the web browser and all the plug-ins.

Chairman and CEO of Qualys said, “Almost 100 percent of all browsers we have surveyed have plug-ins installed that enable the user to play music, watch video, visualize PDF files and play games. Frequently these plug-ins are overlooked by the users and are not updated, representing a significant security exposure – both for end-users and corporate clients.” said Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO of Qualys. “BrowserCheck is an easy and straightforward way to take care of the flaws and to assure the user of a smooth and secure browsing experience.”
