American automobile magazine, Motor Trend has revealed details of the next-generation Nissan GT-R, which is likely to encompass a hybrid powertrain that will enable the new GT-R to generate around 800 horsepower, making it one of the fastest coupes in the world.
The upcoming Nissan GT-R will be having the old 3.8 liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine that would now produce 650 horsepower (a bump of 50) and 1000 Nm of torque. In addition to that, an electric motor will assist the engine to boost the horsepower to 800. Moreover, an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission will replace the six-speed gearbox for improved handling.
As far as the design is concerned, the new GT-R looks inspired from the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, which was unveiled in June 2014. The new design will ensure improved performance and efficiency.
The next-generation Nissan GT-R is anticipated to make its first public appearance at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Although the Japanese automaker has not given any official word about the launch of this supercar, it is expected to hit the roads in 2018.
