Sony PS3 Slim 250GB: A Review

Sony PS3 Slim

It’s not been too long since Sony gave to the gaming world their new PS3 Slim 120 GB console, which for the most part received good reviews. And now, you have the Sony PS3 Slim 250 GB console which aims at making the gaming console much more than just that. This article will provide a fair and unbiased review of the new Sony PS3 Slim 250 GB gaming console. Let’s begin with the basics –

While the PS3 is a complete media center unto itself, the primary function of a gaming console is, well, gaming. That’s the most important aspect of any console – the gaming experience it provides. Of the PS3 Slim 250 GB, it has to be stated that there are few other consoles out there that deliver such a power-packed, stunning and thrilling gaming experience. Some of the great games you can play on this console are Dirt, Gran Turismo, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and many more. The audio and video output you get with the PS3 Slim 250 GB is nothing short of brilliant.

The only major way in which it differs from its older brothers in the gaming department, is the controller. What’s different here is that the Dual Shock controller has been replaced with a new kind of controller. It has a new sensing system that automatically detects how your hands move while holding the controller, which effectively means that forthcoming PS3 games will allow you to wield the controller as a sword or a weapon, converting the motion of your hands into on-screen moves. The controller is, of course, wireless, linked up to the main console through Bluetooth. Speaking of wireless, the PS3 Slim 250 GB can pick up WiFi thanks to which you can be online in less than the time it takes to boot your laptop or PC.

The PS3 Slim 250 GB will set you back by about $350, and what justifies the price is the console’s ability to play Blu-Ray content, plus its ability to recognize and play any media format including mov, avi, wmv, etc. One of the main problems of this console is, as with its 120 GB sibling, it is not backward-compatible with any PS2 games, which would be a problem for anyone who has and is used to playing mostly PS2 titles. However, if you’re in the market for a satisfying gaming experience and awesome computing power, then look no further than the PS3 Slim 250 GB.

Final word: the PS3 Slim 250 GB, Sony’s latest offering for the gaming and media market shines in almost all aspects. It has its shortcomings, sure, but which gaming console is without a single flaw? The main thing is that its lightweight, takes up less space, can be used to access the Internet, and it packs a whole lot of gaming and audio-video fun. If you’re a serious gamer, and don’t want to nit-pick, then this might just be the ideal console for you.
